Looking at the field through a boxing prism heading toward the ultimate title unification:

    THE CHARMIONS:
    --Michael (WBC)
    --Carly (WBA)
    --Brooke (IBF)
    --Archuleta (WBO)
Michael and Carly have the more prominent belts because they have more belt-it-out power.

    A BLAKE LEWIS PUNCHER'S CHANCE:
    --Cook
    --Castro
If there are more stumbles in the top four (and those folks have been far from perfect) and these two can avoid having to do a big-voice number, they could enter the title picture.

    UNDERCARD MATERIAL:
    --Jacuzzi
    --Amanda
    --Kristy
Could still make splashes, but would have to be considered long shots to make the top 6.

    TOMATO CANS:
    --Shyesha.
    --Ramiele
    --Hernandez
Expect them to take their dives and for two of them to be glad to make the Idol tour.

Hat's off, dools. This website has the best Idol comments.

Give me SportsJournalists.com anyday over some stupid silly Idol blog.

Cowbell: I have no problem moving Johns up a slot or two-- done.

Oregon: No you're not the only one who hated what Cook did to Rigby. Mr. Lugz was furious. Cook actually beat his chest at one point during the song. WTF? Odd, considering how he really 'got' the song 'Hello' the week before. I closed my eyes and listened to the vocals, though, and I was in love.

Pancamo: Great point about Simon and Archeletta.

    I think I like it. Let's see.

Agree across the board. Archuleta remains one of the power players.

And yet ... I've seen weirder things on AI than for the kid to take the ultimate hit for this one mistake. He lost a lot of cred. And I think it's clear there's some "squeaky-clean" backlash against him, inasmuch as this board tends to be a reflection of the public at large.

I think Brooke is the most genuine person of the bunch. I like her more by the minute. Y'know, I hope she wins. And yes, I think I'd buy what she puts out there.

The tat is going to bring down Irish girl. Mark me words, laddies and lasses.

I really didn't notice either one that much before last night, and they both made me take notice last night. Rising with a bullet, both of 'em.

I like that Amanda and Kristy Kountry are in the same group ... but I'd even rate Amanda lower. I liked the earlier post that said she's a one-trick pony.

Chiekze ... much like Cook and Castro to me. He finally found a song that worked for him, and he performed the crap out of it. He has an upward green arrow beside his name.

Hernandez is gone, history, finished. Think that maybe you're underestimating Ramiele a little bit. Not a contender to take it all, but the girl has some chops.

Damn, dools. That WAS a helluva overview.

  5. I enjoyed Eleanor Rigby, but I've got to add I got a laugh out of his screwing up of the line "darning his socks in the night." He said, "wearing his socks."

Thanks for the kind words, you two. But anyone posting it elsewhere: please change "charmions" to "champions." Thanks in advance.

Seriously? Kristy Lee Cook is NO better than the second-worst singer left in this thing.

Look, she's not going to win, because she's not a great singer. But you know as well as I do why she'll probably last a while longer.

She's nice to look at. And this competition is not all about singing.

But she's listed as "could still make splashes." If by splashes, you mean "boys horny" then yes.

Otherwise? I can't think of a single performance she's done that I remember in a GOOD way.

Well, I don't splash, but I can see the possible connection.

    Eh, to each his/her own.

I hold on to the hope that David H.'s two good performances the previous two weeks will balance out yesterday. And also, while he performed, I was resigned to him going home. But when KLC and Archuletta performed, and then they played back others, I remember there were several not-good performances. So I'm hoping...but still realistic.

Totally agreed on David Cook - I hated the arrangement, but he sang it really well. He should have gone with something else.

Am I the only one who thinks Michael Johns is totally sliding along on his audition and Hollywood week at this point? He had a great audition, great version of "Bohemian Rhapsody" in Hollywood, and I thought he'd be a contender. Since the competition started he's ranged from unremarkable to mediocre.
