Was it me or was Paula higher than usual? Listen to her rambling at the end of the show.

I mean, she's so fucking out of her mind, she has to look down to see the sky.

Yes.... but I don't like the way he becomes a lapdog for the voters at this stage, agreeing with whomever they put into the bottom three.... no matter what.

He gives these little Macaulay Culkin Home Alone cutesy looks into the camera, and he's on to the next round.

For Simon not to have had the balls to say Archuleta deserved to be in the bottom three.... spineless cock

The voting should be on the total body of work. Based on that, Archuleta merits being nowhere near the bottom three....yet. That said, Simon tore into him a lot more mellowly than he would have anybody else.

Maybe Simon was scared he'd piss off Papa Archuleta.

Good get, Duaner. But it'd be more a shock if he didn't have an overbearing stage parent.

I feel bad for the kid. I will be surprised if this is the last story on ET or those types of shows about Arch and his homelife and/or background.

I read a story a few days ago about Archuleta. It quoted a teacher, who said he's extremely shy and really plays the wallflower role at school. I think lots of people have the impression he's a spoiled child actor, and I think that's probably incorrect. He has no more music experience than any of the other contestants. He just happens to be extremely skilled. Sure, he's a little bit of a wuss. But so were a lot of folks in high school. He's been somewhat under the thumb of his parents, who've clearly driven him toward a set agenda. In the next five years, he'll become his own man. He might go to college and discover rock. In five years, he might be doing bong hits in the van before his band takes the stage at the local dive.

He does not give me the impression of being spoiled. I just get he impression that he has never spent more than two hours away from his parents other than at school.

It could be true. Of course, we could have said the same for Tiger Woods 15 years ago. There's nothing inherently wrong with preparing your child for greatness, but there's a necessary balance. Kids have to be kids. An hour a day music lesson might be a bit much. But an hour every other day is probably okay. A performance once every few weeks is probably okay. But two performances a week is probably too much.
