Ok, before we got going on this AGAIN (I blame BYH for starting), can we please not have another threadjack on this big market vs. small market crap? We've done it to death and nobody ever seems to budge anyway.

Better topic: What combination of has-beens and never weres will the Pirates use to fill out their roster this year?

I'm pretty sure the Royales with Cheese signed Mark G. to an extension or were negotiating one.

Nomar will not sign with Pittsburgh.

That said, the news that he wouldn't be available did lead the Twins to VASTLY overpay for Carlos Silva. Aaron Gleeman made a fairly compelling case that Silva was one of the worst starters in the majors through the totality of last season, and the Twins gave him 4.3 million.

Ok, fair enough. Actually, though I am closer to his side in the overall issue, I don't buy it with the Twins. Their revenue sucks, but at least the owner has the deep pockets if he wasn't so locked in on taking it all with him to the grave.
