Damn Tigers get to just reload while the Yankees have to try and rebuild with prospects.

Humberto Sanchez was rated one of the top pitchers in the minors last year. Power pitcher, but he's been fairly injury prone the last two years. There was talk about him being dealt at this past trading deadline, but he went on the DL at the same time.

The other two were at least part time closers for AA Erie and A Lakeland.

Reload with a 38-year-old outfielder who just missed nearly an entire season and is linked to Balco? I just don't see this as all that great of a trade for the Tigers, unless of course they are getting ready to trade Bonderman and Monroe/Thames for Texiera.
Sheffield is old and is starting to break down, maybe he shouldn't of used all those steroids.

  6. Maybe the biggest indication of how disliked Sheffield is as a person is the fact that his page at Baseball-reference.com is un-sponsored.

Even Lou Merloni's page is sponsored. Yet a guy on the verge of 500 HR can't find any love. All you need to know about the guy.

I don't see the Pads doling out that kind of coin for Drew.
Not with more pressing needs -- starting pitching (spots 3-5) and a second baseman (Marcus Giles?).

  8. Just saying - but how funny would it be if Gary Sheffield failed his physical?

With a bad wrist - its not out of the question. That would be a riot.

Kind of odd to see the Yankees trade the big-name star for prospects for once. But Sanchez with Philip Hughes, and there are suddenly options on the farm there. I hate to say it, but great trade for the Yankees.

Unloading Sheffield for a bag of batting pratice balls would have been a great trade for the Yanks.
To get any kind of prospects for that piece of shit is miraculous..or proves the Tigers just flat out stupid.

Now the latest out of Yankee-land is sending Jaret Wright to Baltimore.
