I couls see Schoneweiss going to the Yankees and doing what Villone did last year, namely having his arm fall off from overuse, but also pitching pretty well and being able to help out in spot starts.

I wouldn't let Schoneweiss anywhere near the first inning of a ballgame. Though he's got far more starting experience than Villone, I always thought Villone had the potential to dominate, whereas Schoneweiss was a below-average SP.

Plus, didn't Schoneweiss do much better in the NL than the AL last year? I know, I know: Join the club.

I thought he was with Toronto last year, did he get traded? He has always been a pretty decent long reliever for Toronto and I thought he was a decent starter for Anaheim, of course that was awhile ago.
And I agree, Villone is very good, I just don't know what his arm has left after throwing so many innings last year.

Schoneweiss was traded to the REds in August and collected a few saves down the stretch after Everyday Eddie blew his elbow out. Speaking of Everyday Eddie, he'll get a gig too.

Jesse Orosco just took off his warmup jacket. Hey, if Vinny can draw a paycheck & Julio Franco & El Duque can get multi-year guaranteed money, and none of them throw left-handed...

If there's one commodity you should never, ever, ever pay big money for, it's lefty specialist. The Cardinals rode dominant performances from Tyler Johnson and Randy Flores to the WS title. You can find these guys anywhere.

Scott Spiezio just re-upped with the Cardinals for two years.

Guy might be right: Aubrey Huff might not be the worst signing of the winter.

I heard he's been training with Jesse Orosco.

Is anyone reporting the Peavy trade?

    Haven't seen it yet.

Good trade for both teams, though, judging by the Braves (me) and Padres fans (not me) in this office.
