  1. Cardinals sign Carpenter through 2011

    http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/press_releases/press_release.jsp?ymd=20061204&content_id=1750314&vkey=pr_stl&fext=.jsp&c_id=stl

If he stays half-way healthy then Carpenter should finish this contract in the top 10 for wins in Cardinals history (and yet he'll still probably be only half-way to Bob Gibson's 251 wins)

So if Carpenter is getting $65 mill for 5 years ($13M per) why shuld Zito get the $17M per Bor-ass is asking for?

Meanwhile, the Mets are ready to give Vicente Padilla 4 years, $40 mill.

  3. Padilla is about the same as Carl Pavano or Brad Penny when you look at production. His new contract would also slot between Penny and Pavano - so it seems about right to me (especially seeing how contracts have been inflated this offseason).

I could possibly see the Penny trade if the Crew also got a decent prospect in return. Penny is fairly young and is signed through 2009, but he has never stayed healthy long enough to be consistent. But a three-way deal where the principals are Bill Hall, Brad Penny and Manny Ramirez (with a lot of other guys kicked in) could work.

Actually, according to the Baltimore Sun that deal is dead.

Because Zito is a FA and Carpenter isn't.

    No, dickhead. read it again.
I said they are ready to give Padilla 4 years, $40 mill.
The Rangers gave him 4 years, $45 mill if you count the option.
That's like 3rd-grade math, shit for brains.

Mets are meeting with Bor-ass tomorrow to discuss Zito

ready to give Padilla 4/$40 means the Mets ARE READY TO SIGN HIM.

You were wrong Grampy. Just be glad Schiano is staying at Jersey State U. I'd never let you hear the end of it if he went to coach Columbo U. :D :D :D

Now I know you're crazy because he's getting less guaranteed money from the Rangers than what the Mets SUPPOSEDLY would have offered him,

He wanted a four-year deal and would have taken one if ANYONE offered him one.

So just admit it. You were wrong. Again. DICKHEAD!!!!!!

The Mets never would have signed Padilla. He's not near old enough to fit into that rotation.
