Anyone else hear rumors that Tigers and Dodgers are talking with Monroe, Penny, Biemel, Hendrikson being some of the chief parties?

I've also heard Tigers and Orioles are talking mainly about a Chris Shelton-Rodrigo Lopez swap.

  2. Probably pulled because Atlanta got Soriano from the Mariners.

Maybe the Red Sox will try to offer Wily Mo Pena for Gonzalez.

Perpetually sore Ted Lilly, with a delivery screaming for shoulder surgery, signs with the Cubs for four years and $44 mil.

What a perfect marriage. I think Armchair_QB's head just exploded. No, wait, that was Kerry Wood's shoulder.

AJC's reporting it's a done deal and LaRoche for Gonzalez is off the table.

Seriously, Hank? Where'd you hear that?

Very interesting. Penny can be pretty damn solid at times.

    Damn!

Gillick REALLY wanted to make a deal. Gavin Floyd AND Gio Gonzalez to the ChiSox for Freddy Garcia.

And if Gillen had pulled off that deal, he was going to trade Lieber for Kevin Mench and Derrick Turnbow, a deal I really wanted to see happen.

Well, now he's GOT to deal Lieber, you'd think. I'd be surprised if that Milwaukee deal doesn't go down now. Of course, I'd MUCH rather get Capellan back than Turnbow.

From what I have been reading, Gillick didn't want to trade Lieber until he got Garcia. And Melvin gives up Cappy instead of Turnbow, I am going to be furious.

Littlefield blows another opportunity. And Gonzalez's history of arm problems goes back before this past season. He also had trouble staying healthy in the minors.

The Braves might have been selling high on LaRoche, but Gonzalez's history of injuries would have made it worthwhile.

How many starts before Piniella speedbags him after a 2 1/3 IP, 7BB outing? If Lilly can drive perpetually sunny Brad Arnsberg to distraction, I can't wait to see him with Piniella.

Are the Mets really going to pull out of the Zito race, or is that just posturing? I mean, I take Zito over Harden anyday -- and I'm Canadian -- mostly because of the aforementioned durability issue. Zito is also 100-21 when the A's score at least two runs. I think he'd be a nice fit in NYC if they can get over the length of contract issue.

But ESPN seems to be suggesting (semi-strongly) that he might go to the Giants instead. Guess he won't have to find a new apartment.
