Yeah, but they weren't real homers. The wind was blowing out a lot. ;D

And the Cubs with Kerry Wood...

Oh, I know the Tigers may be happy with Inge as their third baseman. But he's not even close to Ramirez as a hitter. And I know Inge is only in his second season as a full-time third baseman, but that is more a matter of his failure to earn a job before that than youth. As I pointed out before, Ramirez is a year younger.

I like Bonderman, too, but Teixeira's a much better player right now and at 26, he probably hasn't reached his prime yet, either.

What is a realistic destination for Aramis Ramirez?

The Yankees and Mets don't need him, unless the Yanks deal A-Rod. Is Boston content with Mike Lowell?

Philadelphia was one of the first teams I thought of — hitter's park, need protection for Howard, need right-handed power bat — but I don't know if the Phillies would be willing to pay big money for him.

So does he end up with the Cubs, Angels, Phillies or somebody else?

The fantasy baseball geek in me likes the idea of Ramirez in Philadelphia. (I've got him on a keeper league team) :)

Actually, that might make some real-world sense. After clearing Abreu's salary, it's about time the Phillies spent some money. He really would be a perfect fit for the Phillies the reasons you stated. It would also allow Ramirez to be a complimentary player again, which I think suits him, with Ryan Howard and Chase Utley as the leaders on that team.

Is David Bell still under contract? If you believe the N.Y. papers, then the Phillies or Cubs are very close to aquiring Gary Sheffield.
I have no clue where the Phillies would play Sheffield because he is such a liability in right field, but he would provide protection for Howard.

Sheffield would have to play right field, maybe left if they dump Burrell. That could be a truly ugly defensive team with Howard at first, Utley at second, Sheffield in right and Burrell in left.

And Bell flat out sucks. Even with him still under contract, the Phillies would be much better off with Ramirez than Sheffield.

Doesn't Bell play solid defense? I remember watching him play with the Mariners and always thought he had a pretty good glove. Of course he can't hit, but that is another matter.

David Bell's contract is up and is a free agent ... the Brewers won't be bringing him back.

So the Phillies could trade for Sheffield and sign Ramirez and potentially have one of the best 3-4-5-6 in baseball.

Can either of them (Sheffield/Ramirez) pitch? Because the Phils have had the No. 1 scoring offense in the NL the last two years ... IIRC.
