I too think big trouble awaits when Carmelo returns -- he's the Kyle Orton of this story! -- but there is at least faint hope that it will work out. According to the now-legend, it was Anthony's halftime suggestion to D'Antoni on Feb. 4, to give the kid more run since he's doing all right, that touched off Linsanity.

It will be very interesting to see what and if the Knicks do anything before the trading deadline.

Carmelo hasn't always been poison. I mean, Syracuse fans probably don't think that.

I think there can be a happy medium.

They all get exiled from Denver at some point, don't they?

Melo has never come off as a selfish player to me. I think the emergence of Lin gives the Knicks the offense they've wanted since D'Antoni walked in the door. He's a pure point guard who's adept at the pick-and-roll, got a strong sense of pace and court awareness. Seems to be lifting everyone's game so far. I think Melo will likely take fewer shots but get better quality looks because of Lin.

It makes me want to ask Jeremy for his take on Ragu's economic theories.

    Next press conference ...

If I'm Carmelo, I don't come back until after the Knicks have lost a game.
