What you think about this probably depends on how you feel about correlation/causation but
Nate Silver tweeted that the the MSG stock has gone up $600 million in market capitalization since Lin's first start.

I don't follow the market and my understanding of finance is child like, but it seems silly to pretend Lin's presence didn't contribute to SOME of the renewed enthusiasm in the Knicks, which would in turn, make a difference with the financial sector, no?

Again, I concede I have no idea what I'm talking about, other than Dolan sucks.

Are you trying to give Starman a coronary?

I believe this is part of the reason why Lin is so attractive to the Rockets, who want to hang on to the lucrative overseas money they're getting from China from Yao Ming. At least in "Brave Dragons," even minor NBA guys like Bonzi Wells made good money in China because of their association with the Rockets.

There is a very definite correlation. When Linball started the MSG TV ratings went way up:

"Lin's presence in the starting lineup has also spurred a 82% increase in the average season-to-date household rating compared to the first 27 games on MSG Network last season (2.46 HH vs. 1.35 HH; 181,740 households vs. 101, 457 households). The seven games in which Lin has started also represents a 75% increase over the average season-to-date household rating (4.30 HH vs. 2.46 HH; 317,676 households vs. 181,740 households)."

In addition you also have to factor in the success of The Rangers to increased ratings and increased stock value.

Stock chart tells the story. Look at the rise from when Lin started playing in February:

It's what makes this bungling that much funnier. They could have locked him up months ago for less. But the bravado... "Jeremy Lin needs to learn a thing or two." Etc, etc.

I mean, signing Kurt Thomas? ;D. Felton? ;D

When I think of who might be involved in this..... There's only one person who could bungle something in this particular way with this kind of panache.

C'mon, who here would be surprised to read he has a hand in this?

Clearly Jim Dolan with an assist from Isiah.

    You got it, Boom.

  8. The funniest thing is this coincides with the Nets moving next door to Brooklyn. It's like the Knicks want to give away their fan base. They are acting like a team that wants to shoot its way out of town.

  9. I feel bad for real Knicks fans because they won't have someone like Mitt Romney protege Steve Pagliuca riding to the rescue.

Knicks fans will always be there. They'll go away as long as the team is inept, but the minute they show any sign of anything, the fans come back. When Carmello Anthony signed, the fans came. Jeremy Lin, and the fans came.

Brooklyn is Brooklyn. Not going to compete with Manhattan. I also think Brooklyn is awesome, but it ain't fertile for a pro sports team. People will come for a while, because it is the new Borough toy. But in a couple of years? I am not sure.

Isiah spotted in Greenwich last week, so he's around.

I also think this has to do with Carmelo Anthony's jealousy over the attention Lin got.

Well, good luck, Melo. You've got a journeyman point guard, geriatric patients Marcus Camby, Kurt Thomas, and drunk Jason Kidd.
