It seems perfectly reasonable to me to revisit his development a year after Linsanity, no?

Is it cynical to do so?

My initial post dredging this back up was essentially throwing the two extremes out there for fun, none of which seem to represent where he's at and is heading.

It's perfectly fine to bring old posts back.

We have some dumb rule here where people are not allowed to bring up old threads where an opinion might embarrass a poster (if the post is even there and not deleted).

That's really a rule? Yes, that is dumb. If you have an opinion, or make a prediction, you should be prepared to be called on it. Like anyone else in the world.

Wait a second. Did YankeeFan really just call out another poster for bumping an old thread?

Should Dick Whitman have waited for The New York Times to write about Jeremy Lin?

I'm not against bumping an old thread, and there's obviously no "rule" against it.

I just don't get the folks who take glee in Lin (or Tebow) not having continued success.

Is the story better if he/they go on to a Hall-of-Fame career, and prove all of the doubters wrong? Sure.

But, it's like they think that the current struggles invalidates the previous success and makes them a winner of a year old argument. Like we shouldn't have enjoyed the run they took their teams on.

My bad, it was LongTimeListener who questioned bringing the thread back.

I want Jeremy Lin and Tim Tebow to be superstars (think of the Web hits!), but I do think it's worth evaluating them without involving your hopes.

Back to Lin's performance with the Rockets, if he can shoot a little better from 3-point range, he'll be fine. I'm not saying he'll ever be an All-Star, but he can be a solid starter. In many ways he's already pretty good. He's third in the league in steals and in the middle of the PG pack in assists.

As someone said earlier, he's still learning to mesh with Harden. But overall, you would think the Rockets are pretty happy. A lot of people thought they'd suck this year, but they're competing in the West and it's not totally unreasonable to think they can grab the No. 6 or No. 7 playoff spot.

It's pretty unreasonable to think they'll jump the Nuggets or Warriors.

Much more embarrassing to delete. Makes a person lose credibility.

    ...less credible.

    Still won't delete it. :)
