Hugh Hefner was unsure about having Lindsay Lohan on the cover of Playboy because she is carrying around some "serious luggage".

The men's magazine tycoon was initially doubtful when his editors came to him with the concept of doing a pictorial with the Mean Girls star.

Lindsay's career has taken a nosedive due to her legal issues and unpredictable behaviour and the 85-year-old said he needed to be convinced the publication was doing the right thing.

"I had mixed emotions to begin with," Hefner told People magazine. "I could not have anticipated, quite frankly, that it would turn out to be such a sensational newsworthy event, or that the pictorial would turn out so well.

"Historically, Playboy pictorials are connected to celebrities at various times in their career. Sometimes it's the beginning of their career and sometimes it comes at a particular moment - as with Lindsay - that is intended as a turnaround."

He went on to use Drew Barrymore as an example of an actress who was experiencing a lull in her career but saw it skyrocket after being on the cover of the magazine.

Drew Barrymore was a fluke. She was also clean for several years at the time of the shoot.

I don't buy for a second that Hef had any doubts. His people have probably been on the phone with Lindsay's agent for the last five years.

Does she need the money badly enough yet?

Lindsay's next starring role is just as likely to be porn as it is an actual studio movie.

 

Has a legit actress ever gone to do porn?

People say all the time so and so will be doing porn before too long but I have never seen an actress who was in real studio films do porn.

 

It was complete hyperbole when people a few years ago were saying, "Britney Spears is going to have to do this, or Britney Spears is going to have to do that..."

Even at the lowest point in her life, when she was shaving her head, being institutionalized and losing custody to K-Fed, she was still raking in $30-$40 million a year.

When was the last time Lindsay worked? She gets next to nothing to make a movie like Machete or something like that.

She's made a movie for ABC Family, Machete and a handful of episodes of Ugly Betty in the last five years. I'm sure she gets paid to show up at clubs and whatnot, but I think it's safe to say it's not even close to being on the level that Kim Kardashian or Paris Hilton get.

Before she did this shoot she was broke. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess she didn't invest it, so she'll probably blow through the million in a few months.

If she's lucky, she gets a reality show. If she's not, I don't think it's outside of the realm of possibility that she winds up doing porn.

 

Dana Plato didn't do porn, did she? I thought she was in a nudie film that got an X rating because her nipples touched another women's nipples. (Or so said her E True Hollywood Story!)

 

Plato's wasn't porn. It was more "straight to Cinemax" level.
