Lindsay Lohan appears to be doing great

Just read this. That is one great piece of magazine writing.

I'm glad he didn't overplay what a trainwreck he got access to. But man, that is great, great stuff -- a couple of Hollywood has beens, financing from Kickstarter in exchange for whatever they had to to promise, a microbudget, Lindsay Lohan. ... and a porn star with a huge shlong. That is the gift that keeps on giving, isn't it?

It would be easy to say that thing writes itself, but actually Rodrick did more with that than 99 percent of writers could. Great reporting. For some reason, one of my favorite parts is a drunk, alcoholic George C. Scott calling Schrader into his trailer and telling him he's the world's worst goddamn director, and he'll only do the scene if he promises to never direct a movie ever again.

  2. This and the Richard Marx story - I posted on the journo board - are easily the two best things I have read this month.

I really enjoyed the Lohan piece. It was well done.
    Thanks for posting that.

Not going to stand by while you talk about my girl like that. It's part of my irrational attachment to females who, like me, were born in 1975. Drew, Angelina, Charlize and Kate Winslet. Feel like I would have dated them if we'd gone to high school together, taken trips uptown to the Dairy Queen.

Growing up with Drew Barrymore would have been terrifying. Not the sexy kind, either. Well, maybe sometimes.

Perhaps Barrymore writes and directs the movie that rehabilitates Lohan.

Or, they both go on the kind of bender that people never return from.

I enjoyed Barrymore's work in The Wedding Singer, which was the last film where Adam Sandler was tollerable.

As a teen, I kind of loved Adam Sandler movies. Pretty embarrassing. I do think Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore and, to a lesser degree and not because of him, Big Daddy hold up. The Wedding Singer is OK and, you're right, probably his last role before becoming a caricature.

Not many times a porn star is less skeevy than their costar

The Wedding Singer itself was a caricature. I thought that was the point.

I don't like Adam Sandler generally, but Reign Over Me (2007) was awesome.

I feel the same way about Hugh Grant.

I do enjoy telling people Lohan will be joining Downton Abbey next season.
