    “I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”

  2. We get "angry" not because he scored his big-timer job, but because he still feels the need to take digs and shots and sports writers and the profession all the time.

He's the douchebag who can't get over it, not us.

Yeah, if anyone is gonna take shots and sports writers and the profession, it's gonna be us, dammit!

  4. I'm just saying it's petty of him - and motivated by self-interest, not by serving his readers.

I though that's what his readers wanted -- petty shots at big-time sports writers.

I don't know about the backstory in Green Bay. But I did hear from a reliable source that Lisa wasn't included on the Supe coverage. Gotta respect her stones if that slight led her to quit on the spot.

I've long admired her work and found her to be a nice person on the occasions when we crossed paths. Best wishes to her.

It does seem odd when you consider that Lisa was writing about the Giants all year.

Perhaps Leon knew that the Jason Kidd deal was going to come down he wanted to be sure that he had someone back home to track what is sure to be a huge NY sports story

I've always admired the conviction it takes for someone who has been slighted or wronged to say: Adios.

Not, "I'm upset and I'm going to look for another job, but in the meantime, I'm going to pout and you're going to feel like you made the tough, but correct call, and that's going to piss me off even more and in the end I'll probably end up staying in this job."

    Nope.

Just: You don't value my work? Ok. Adios.

I've done it, DD, but it may not be the smartest move to make in this job market -- if you're at the upper end of the food chain, like Lisa, it's probably easier to bounce back, but still.

You would have the guts of a pretty decent staff if you picked up the people who have lost power struggles in the toy department of New York's Picture Newspaper.

    . . . uh, there's a dirt spot on the face of my 4-iron . . . take care of that, will ya? . . . tanks.
