Living in BFE: A Primer

You are an officer and a gentleman, F_H.

May your sons be strapping, your daughters lovely and your concubines lacking a gag reflex.

 

If you're going to live in BFE, do NOT profess that you're a liberal. Jeez, talk about a death sentence. In my last newspaper stint, a prison and college town, being a liberal was like being, well, a prisoner.

 

I don't hang these curveballs for my health....

 

He even got the batting order correct.  A tip o' the cap to ye, laddie.

 

At my BFE stop, the nearby college went to the Humanitarian Bowl and a local attorney was one of the six or so fans who followed the team. The weekly devoted a full page to his photos from Boise. He took 'em by my shop (the bureau for a 20,000-30,000 circulation daily and that put out a zoned weekly edition) and we told him no dice.

Minor T-jack: Is that Eddie Albert doing those Wentworth ads you see on the Weather Channel? If it ain't it's the spittin' image of him.

 

Since he died more than a year ago, I vote 'no'

 

I forget who said it, but a while back, someone posted about having a daughter and realizing that ultimately their little girl would be, um well, you know, servicing someone.

It's made me wish for boys ever since. Not that I wouldn't love a little girl. It's just an image I'd rather not contemplate.

 

I guess it wouldn't be right if I just had her mouth wired shut until she was 18.
