Lost: The Final Season (Premieres Feb. 2)

Discussion in 'Anything goes' started by Piotr Rasputin, Jan 20, 2010.

  1. Did anyone else go to the Times Talk Live for Lost tonight? If not, you all missed out. It was a ton of fun (Cuse and Lindelof are hilarious) and Michael Emerson (Ben) and Jorge Garcia (Hurley) even showed up. And they showed a scene from the final (and said that it did not contain any pertinent spoilers). I won't describe it, but if you want to know about it message me.

As for what they talked about, they were very careful to not directly talk about the finale, although there were a few pretty big reveals (again, nothing very spoilery but I won't say it here). Lindelof started to reveal a bit more than they wanted to and Cuse, jokingly, cut him off at that point. So they were pretty coy. It was a great celebration of the show and all that it has been to so many people. They did make it pretty clear that the finale is NOT about answering questions to the mythology of Lost but in finding a resolution for the characters. That doesn't mean we won't get answers, but Across the Sea was clearly the answer dump at the end of the series.

FWIW, Jorge, who is a legit fan of the show, said that he thinks he got the finale.

As for my own prediction, I believe that the Sideways world and the real world are headed for a collision course and that the final outcome, maybe even just the final scene, will be some sort of combination of the two. Maybe the best of both worlds, maybe the worst of both worlds or, most likely, a mix of both. All I know is that I am confident that Lindelof and Cuse know what they are doing and that it will be a blast. So pissed I have to work, I am going to have to be social media silent until I get home on Sunday. It will be a late, late night.

I'm curious to see if we'll get any further tidbits on the difference between "on island time" and "off island time." For some reason, I think this might factor into how both worlds collide.

My favorite moment was when Widmore got killed.
I'm not a sick bastard. A day or two before, Toucher and Rich - a morning show on Boston sports radio and both Lost fans - had Widmore on the show, asked a lot of questions about it, then one of them said "you're dying in the next episode, aren't you." Widmore said he couldn't answer that, they said they knew, and the interview continued.
When he got off the phone, the explained that the last time they had an actor from the show on, it was Charlotte, and they asked her the same question, she gave the same answer and the next episode she was killed and they figured they're only getting the actors who are about to bite the dust.

These are the types of questions that need answers or perspective. Bravo, Yahoo.

I'd like to think that's chalked up to the aura of The Island. It's the same reason it can't be found via satellite or boat. It's why it took Widmore over 20 years to find it. The Island can only be reached via wormhole.

Question: Who did Jacob mean when he said "They're coming" as he died?

Best guess I can come up with is Widmore and his men, and that Widmore was lying when he said Jacob sent him.

The Candidates. Ilana and her team. Widmore and his team. Could mean any of them. I'd say the Candidates, though. Makes the most sense considering the storyline this year.

I assumed the candidates. Because shortly after, they time jumped back there after Juliet set off the bomb.

FWIW, I was listening to the last Damon & Calton podcast today and they made it very clear that they only shot one ending to the show and made it seem like the three alternate endings Kimmel has are joke endings.

Just wanted to pass that along before anyone gets their hopes up.
