Someone once said the minority exists to keep the majority from doing stupid things.

Although the President's oath of office doesn't officially end in "So help me God" most of them have added it of their own accord. The oath for the branches of the U.S. military does end in "So help me God."

Air Force Academy cadets will no longer be required to include the words “so help me God” when taking their annual Honor Oath.

On Friday (Oct. 25), officials at the Colorado Springs, Colo., campus announced its 4,000 current cadets would be allowed to opt out of the final phrase of their honor code, which they reaffirm each of their four years of study and training.

I would imagine that if an individual teacher, superintendent, or local yokel politician wanted to do the same, the Constitution would not stop him or her.

Regarding the Presidential oath: George Washington did it on his own accord and those who followed did it out of respect to him. And then it became something that happened on a regular basis.

LOL ... yeah, old Georgie was the first public official in the English-speaking world to EVER think to throw that little bon mot in there.

The oath for military enlistees includes "So help me God," but it is optional, much like it is in the rest of the government.

I sure miss the times when in a major region of the United States, it was illegal for a certain group of American citizens to vote, to sit at the same lunchcounter or use the same bathroom as other American citizens.

Well they better not teach kids to follow the Commandments. That would be bad and brainwashing.

Give them condoms and tell them to fuck each other at will, well, that is a good thing.

But don't teach them do not lie, do not steal, do not fuck your buddies wife (unless you wear a condom, of course) and do not murder. That is bad.

Just for you, I'm going to teach a kid to wear a seatbelt.

It seems to me that you could teach them all of those things without invoking the Christian Ten Commandments.
