They actually had a good episode a few weeks back when Louie called his wife the c-word... The show is very mediocre, but that was a pretty funny episode.

I liked that one and the sex one. Last week's was really serious for a raunch comedy show.

But I still agree with the general consensus that it should be much, much funnier, given the talent.

I saw it for the first time this past weekend. The show was about their friend's 16-year-old rebellious daughter who later offered to blow Louie. Man, I was amazed at how shitty the show was. I was totally underimpressed.

That last episode sets up the rest of the season nicely.

i've liked a couple of episodes... i think it's gotten better nearly every week (well, until this past week)

but the one with the kid being an asshole... thought that was great

I would never touch the doorknob of that kitchen closet...

  7. The really striking thing about this show is how much it is a modern day, profane version of The Honeymooners. It's all there, from the working stiff who comes home to his disinterested wife to the working stiff's best friend in the bath robe with the witty comments. In the old days, the guy in the bathrobe was Art Carney, aka Ed Norton, saying, "Hello ball." Now, it's the hilarious comic in the bathrobe saying, "She was eating like a dyke at a carpet convention."

This show is getting better and better.

    Apt observation.

Pretty much every "working-class schlub with tart-tongued wife" sitcom for the last 50 years has been a takeoff on The Honeymooners.

If "Lucky Louie" continues to get better and better every episode for the next five years, by then it will be up to about moderately shitty. ::)

I'd like the show a lot more if it were just Jim Norton and Louis CK doing stand-up...

The Norton character and the retarded brother character are just too over-the-top. It tries too hard to get laughs from raunchy dialogue. When they dial it down a notch or two, it can be funny.

For example, I liked the episode about Louie being out of shape and eating McDonald's.

If you don't want the raunch watch King of Queens...

Lucky Louie is a great show.
