Makes sense. In most states, if you maintain and mow the property over a 7-year period, you have the right of adverse possession if it ever became an issue. However, your DOT in your state should've either built the barrier along the property line or given you the right of first refusal on that sliver.

Not an attorney, but I've covered enough of these land issues.

Late thought: On the other hand, if that sliver kept growing wild, eventually some trees will take root in it and that will provide a little cover from the oncoming drunk-driven coupes.

Hey, no outing! But glad you and your family are OK. It takes some serious speed and idiocy to separate an engine from a chassis, that driver should thank their lucky stars.

Glad everyone's all right, Spike. Feel like that girl was also driving this car:

Awesome dismount, but she flubbed the landing. I still give her a 9.5, though.

That's one hell of a place to park a tow truck, though. Right smack dab in a traffic lane on a busy highway.

I thought so too but she hadn't slowed down at all despite surely having seen all the cop cars and such well before that moment.

I know, but still ... You're just asking for trouble if you park something on the road. Use the shoulder!

That's what makes it such a poor setup. You have a textbook "LOOK AT THIS ACCIDENT!" situation facing the other way. And a tow truck inexplicably in the left lane. She's probably a dumbass who was distracted by a cellphone but that doesn't excuse the other stuff.
