He may be just saying that to his dad. Or, he's just really pathetic for a guy in 1968.

The free love of the 60's was confined to California Hippies, Greenwich Village and rock stars. Most of the baby boomers didn't hit their stride til the early 70's and disco. More people got laid wearing leisure suits and listening to Donna Summer than ever did wearing fringed vests and listening to The Doors.

Out of normal that they would do a "Lost" shout out with the guy who played Ethan.

I really liked the episode and want to watch it again.

That has to be more words than the other five Bobbies, or whatever, spoke total the first five seasons. When he told Don that he was worried about Henry, not him, that just devastated him.

The thing about Don is before he was this bad boy that "women loved and hated"! Now he's becoming a miserable prick. Doesn't love his kids; cheated on his wife (again); becoming more of a drunk...

They're moving past anti-hero to full out jackass.

Andy Greenwald pointed out that the episode ends with Don standing on a balcony in an episode featuring the MLK assassination. Something I hadn't even thought about. A nice touch.

Call me stupid, but I thought they messed up the timing with the MLK shooting happing in the evening/late afternoon Memphis time.

I always thought it was a "Early morning, April 4 - shot rings out in Memphis skies...." Thanks Bono.

Song had the facts wrong. It was at 6 pm.

But Don DOES love his kids. That scene with Megan was really powerful, I thought. Don used to just react - do whatever he wanted - and now he's starting to realize what he's missing and not sure how to fix it. First time in a while I've felt sympathetic to Don.

That line "People like to go to the movies when they're sad" was so good. It's those rare moments of total honesty that really make an impact on Mad Men, no matter who says the line. Everyone's posing on the show.
Anyone thinking it odd how many companies are using Jon Hamm for VOs on their ads? I got it at first, his character on MM was mysterious and he could really sell an idea, but now I associate that "voice" with self-loathing cynicism as Don Draper has devolved.

I would call Bono's lack of historical accuracy his greatest fault, but the man wore leather fringed vests with no shirt under them for the entire decade of the 1980s.

Read up on the song after watching the episode. Didn't realize Bono isn't really a fan of it and it was kind of critically panned.
