There were moments -- esp. w/Don and Lane, but mostly a downer, for all the
obvious reasons. Lane w/Godzilla was priceless., though.

    A few things...

We now know Joan had two abortions. She got around quite a bit for the early '60s.

Just when you thought things were going to be predictable (Don putting the moves on the college girl a week after boffing the secretary, and scoring), she drops the bombshell about Anna's cancer. Doesn't get laid and another piece of his world crashes.

And please, God, could I be Joan's OB-GYN for 30 seconds?

OK, but she's probably pushing 70 (or past it) by now.

When Peggy posted a copy of Joan's driver's license picture on the bulletin board in Season 1, it said she was born in 1931. So she'd be almost 80 by now, actually.

A bit strange that Pete, Roger and Harry each appeared for about 15 seconds and only Harry had only lines.

Hamm does such a great job transforming himself as Dick Whitman.

I read this thread before I watched the episode, and for the life of me the best I could come up with for "Abobo" was that Joan had slept with two very tall, muscular bald men (a la Double Dragon).

I'm assuming you and Sonner know what an "abobo" is now?

    Actually, per second.

It has something to do with contracts. You'll see characters disappear for an episode or two throughout the season because they are often on a 10/13 deal. Joan disappears sometimes. "Sopranos" and "Wire" characters used to disappear, as well. And "LOST."

Rewatching everything with Mrs. Stain, who is going through for the first time. The scene where Jimmy finally confronts Don might be the best of Season 2. Chills.

I'm not surprised that they aren't in each episode (there was no Betty or the kids here). It's that if they are on these types of deals that an appearance would be wasted by appearing in a non-speaking capacity or only having a couple of lines (like Peggy or Harry).
