Her filing cited irreconcilable differences for the breakup.[/quote]
He thought he was funny. She would not agree.

She used to do ads for Excedrin and was married to a third-stringer from SNL and now stars on a three-time Emmy best drama winner. She is an astronaut.

And before all of that, she was on "The West Wing". Perhaps it's just re-entry?

Have to say, the scene in the alley between Joan and Roger was written as if it were a man's fantasy. I'm afraid I don't buy it that Joan would be turned on enough by the danger of being mugged that she'd want to bone right there, 10 feet from where it happened.

  5. She's not only an astronaut, she's a Scientologist.

Good interview with Kiernan Shipka here:

    She's 10??

Q: Do you think you'd act like Sally if your mom was like Betty and your dad was like Don?

A: I think Sally's actually much better than I would be, given her situation. Sally is really, really reserved. Divorce can be terribly stressful and confusing. Add to that an emotionally unresponsive mother and a physically absent father, I think Sally's actions are pretty tame. If I was experiencing Sally's situation, I would be a complete terror of a kid

I'd put that in the same category as Peggy stripping down naked in the hotel room to make a point. Not happening. Maybe Don's backseat blowjob as well. Interesting, in a season that seems designed to underscore changing roles for women in the culture.

That was precisely my thought. Very well stated for someone her age.

No way in hell she said that. I can't see any 10 year old coming up with that on her own. I think her/the show's publicist wrote it and needs some help with translation into 10-year-oldese.

Joan is a creature of the 50's, her changing culture is going to happen very abruptly, if at all.

Don's magic cab ride, to quote Tony Kornheiser, is more plausible if viewed as part of the changing roles and views of women and by women in the 60's. The blow job, as out of character as it may be for Bethany, is a predictable act of an empowered woman in the 60's. More towards the late 60's and early 70's. Women's lib, the sexual revolution and the control of a woman's body by a woman would produce that wonderful and magical moment, a BJ in a taxi.

    What it should be:

Q: Do you think you'd act like Sally if your mom was like Betty and your dad was like Don?

A: Uh, well, you know, I, uh, it's like, uh, I dunno.
