Betty is such an unsympathetic character that spending a half hour trying to make me feel sorry for her just didn't work. I thought Peggy was awesome throughout her scenes last night. The backstage scenes at the Rolling Stones show worked as well.

They began filming Season 2 in early August and she had her baby in mid-September, so it's probably some of both a and b.

I can't think of anything to add, really.

Didn't they have a Jewish copywriter a season or two back, the kid Peggy fired?

I think that little squirrely guy was laid off by Don after they lost the Lucky Strike account.

That guy -- Paris' boyfriend from Gilmore Girls -- was related to Roger's child bride, so I think we assume he's as WASPy as they come.

He also made anti-Semitic remarks during the episode with the Ali-Frazier fight -- as did Harry, who is so getting fired some day, soon.

Interesting interaction with Don and Betty this week. This may be overanalyzing, but he called her "Birdie," which he hasn't done since the first season or so. Combine his genuine concern with the shot of Megan saying "you're married to ME now" in next week's promos and you get the makings of some good drama.

It seems to me that Mad Men starts off pretty slowly each season, and this one seems to be no exception. I'm caught up with the characters; it's time for the storylines to really start to develop.

You think this season has started off slowly? I think they're three-for-three on great hours of television.

I think there's still something between Betty and Don. I don't feel either is 100 percent committed to their new partners for various reasons, one of them being they still have feelings for each other. Probably Betsy more so than Don. She's so damn childish and insecure, and has said that Don was her first and only man, so there's a natural connection that won't go away. I don't know if I'm being obvious with this or not, especially since we saw how fat Betty has become.

I believe both the new Mrs. Draper and Mr. Francis are in for hard, slap-in-the-face years.

Megan Draper seems like she might enjoy that.
