My favourite line came from Sally: "Daddy showed me pictures. They spoke very fondly of her". Loved the look on Betty's face. :)

Sally's becoming quite the conniving little scamp. She's already learned to play sides against each other. She might be pretty good in the corporate world when the time comes.

Roger Sterling's office gets cooler by the week. I think I'd just live in that thing.

Sally will be blowing Roger Sterling in five years.

I thought this one really nailed the whole thing about women and their attitudes toward food and emotional eating. Just some great stuff by Betty and the Weight Watchers meetings. Loved the squirting of the Redi-Whip right into her mouth when she got home and was upset. This was just a beautifully written episode.

I honestly thought for a second that this was the point they were going to break the AMC nudity barrier. And with Alexis Bledel, of all people. Sigh.

She's taken lessons from some established life-masters of the craft.

Alexis Bledel cannot act. Just another pretty face but she doesn't know how to act.

I've read for two straight weeks from reviews/recappers at AV Club (love their work), EW and pretty much any major publication, and all have commented about her poor reading of dialogue.

I didn't know she was on some other TV shows before this. I think it was CW stuff. Makes sense. Not sure why Weiner and Co. brought her on board.

  10. Was I the only one a little underwhelmed by this week's episode? Thought it was sort of melodramatic. Or maybe I just hate episodes that focus on Betty and homelifw stuff as opposed to the inner workings of the office. Oh, and I know Weiner writes episodes without certain characters in part to keep costs down but it's been weeks since Joan and Lane have been featured prominently, tho the always obtuse previews appear to show that will be remedied.
And Bert Cooper is reaching a Roger Sterling level of lines to quips ratio. The way he looked at his watch when Roger told him he was divorcing Jane was classic.

As Sepinwall said, January Jones' work in that final minute was actually really good. It's so rare she nails a scene that it stood out.

I enjoy that Don's secret is being used, much like divorce, as a litmus test for the times.

In the first season, the worst thing we can imagine is Dick Whitman being discovered. His life will be in shambles.

At the end of 1966, who gives a shit?

The secret is being passed around like a lukewarm plate of stuffing that no one is particularly interested in.

Yes, you'll get post-Pete-fight Lane back, next week.

I'll bet Morse did that watch-glancing thing on his own. He can steal a scene as well as Peter Lorre.
