"But that's what the money is for!"

Yeah, that post-coital exchange is likely one of the strangest afterglow moments in video entertainment history.

His marriage would be better off if he paid Lakshmi $500 to leave town. But we all know that wouldn't fit with the self-destructive tendencies of virtually every character on this show.

It was signed, I believe, Ali Baba or something like that, and I'm pretty sure they were from Don, although somebody might explain it better than I just did.

    It was Don.

When they were having drinks, he told her "you got so many flowers I thought you were dating Ali Khan."

Joan replied "My mother raised me to be admired."

The card said "Your mother did a good job. — Ali Khan." (Ali Khan was a Pakistani socialite and diplomat famous for being married to Rita Hayworth for a while)

It was Don. The note was signed "Ali Kahn," the Prince who Don joked that he thought Joan was dating when he first joined the firm because she got so many flowers from men. (Kahn was married to Rita Hayworth.)

EDIT: I see Steak already got this.

An absolutely-disingenuous Draper line -- as "the money" for Peggy at the time was just about the amount of money needed by Sterling to wipe his ass.

Really rooting for Ginzy to find the right hammer to hold over Don's head, now.

As linked much earlier today, the AV Club recap of last night's episode is just fan-freakin-tastic. Some great analysis of the characters and themes that make this show great.

As I said above, VanDerWerff is really good when it comes to TV analysis. I feel like there is so much good television criticism out there these days, it's worth reading more than one person's episode analysis. The style of single-episode recapping was certainly invented by Sepinwall, and he's still a go-to critic, but some of the AV Club guys are better at certain shows.

Me: Embarrassed by Ali Baba reference.

I couldn't remember the actual name!

Layne's biggest problem is that Roger didn't have $8,000 in his pocket that day.

Interesting historic tidbit: Jaguar merged with the British Motor Corporation on December 14, 1966...I wonder if they're still going to be interested in SCDP after the next episode.

they are also about a month from Super Bowl I. I've only caught a handful of episodes this season, but has Harry pushed for clients to buy ad time for the AFL/NFL Championship?
