Joan tried to break out of the 'pink ghetto'. When she was helping Harry with the new TV department, she showed a real gift but was trapped by everyone else's expectations of who she was. Peggy never had to get past her looks like Joan does.

Before we start placing the halo on Peggy's head, she did give up a kid and Joan kept hers. Albeit a bastard, but still a child.

No one is perfect in this series, just like in life.

I'm not putting a halo on Peggy's head. Nope. I'm glad the show hasn't forced that story on us. While I am curious about the baby's whereabouts and who's raising it (you never see it when her mother shows back up and who knows where her sister is), it's clearly never been important to Peggy and thus shouldn't be important to us. Why Weiner and Co. are so great is that they put something like that out there and just let it slowly burn in the background while other things explode in front of us. Yet if they bring it back, it's not out of place to the overall story.

The baby was adopted and is not being raised by her family.

I thought Peggy's sister's family is raising the baby as their own. No?

Not according to what I read on Sepinwall's site (and I believed confirmed by Matthew Weiner). The sister had her own baby.

  8. Count me among those who thought her sister took the baby. Remembe that scene where she's at her sisters and she opens the door and sees the sleeping baby.
But AMC had a season 2 rerun on this am and Pegg's mom said something to her about "the state of new York (said you couldn't take care of a baby). And I suppose if her sister did have the kid, that narrative would have been continued in some fashion.
Btw, I never understood the Don/Bobbi Barrett thing. The other women he had affairs with, I get. That one was just strange. Yes, she was a strong woman, but I just never saw what Dons attraction was. She's much different than the other women, which he (sort of) thought he was rescuing or served as an escape.

I honestly can't remember the circumstances of that affair, other than who she was and how she and her asshole actor husband played into Sterling Cooper's business plans. I just remember at dinner when she and Don had that private moment and he grabbed her crotch and hair and told her how to play the situation when they sat back down and she was oddly turned on by it and followed his orders.

    I LOVED reading that description.

I was expecting a lot of Peggy aftermath this week, but forgot all about her five minutes in. Wow is right.

About 14 minutes in, it wasn't a matter of if. It was a matter of when and how.
