    A tomorrow where he's a middle-aged, unhappy, broke man.

I remember the AP reporter at my last stop had a rule of thumb for work decisions: Can I get fired for this? It's a good guide to live by, along with its close cousin: Can I get divorced for this?

Seems odd that Lane couldn't just set up payments for his back taxes that triggered the chain of events. I've done that. A lot of us probably have.

Everyone on the show is living two lives. Joan likes to think of herself as a savvy businesswoman, but some would call her a prostitute. Don is a guy who isn't even who he says he is. Pete realizes the life he wanted, he doesn't want anymore. Roger may project a care-free exterior, but he know he will never live up to his dad. Lane was too proud and protective of his image as the budget guy to admit that he was having difficulties of his own finances and didn't want to admit to the others that he probably couldn't afford the partnership.

    . . . or his wife's hyper-consumerist ways . . .

i dunno what the timing was or exacty when it was taped but 'inside the actor's studio' recently aired a 'mad men' gang bang that had every major character except peggy in attendance. she was out of the country working in a film. might she been unavailable to be in the last to eps to accomodate her?

Unless England didn't do that in 1966? Maybe they wanted all the taxes at once.

The guy left the country and liquidated his assets. He's not exactly in an "I'm good for it" situation.

Given how his accountant/lawyer was phrasing it, the $8K (US) was obviously the last act in a strung-out situation.

Going back to a previous episode, Matt Weiner says women using sex for favors for the firm happened a lot. Weiner always has this stuff in his back pocket so when people say something is unrealistic he chimes in with what he's learned.

I got one of those direct mail things from Dish about eight months ago and I was ready to pull the trigger. My goal was to reduce my bill. While I was on the phone they started telling me about all the add-on fees I was going to save $1.99 a month. Wasn't worth the trouble. So I'm sticking with my cable.
