Was that one of the first times we have a major time jump (i.e. months) during a season? When Lane hanged himself it was Christmas '66, then the next week we're into March. The date on Megan's reel was March 21, 1967, and Casino Royale came out April 14.

You Only Live Twice didn't come out in theaters until the summer of '67 -- I wondered if that was a rare time mistake by Weiner, but now I see that Nancy Sinatra had it on an album in late '66. Damn he's good, I thought I had caught a mistake.

In Don's mind, he gave Betty everything and she left him. He gave Peggy everything and she left him.

Megan is supposed to be different. She's supposed to be the one who doesn't have that dynamic with him. By using him to get the part, she broke that.

Pete Campbell's Fresh Lifesavers is going to be the name of my imaginary band.

We'll close every show with a cover of The Ramones "Gimme Shock Treatment"

Futhermore, she "left" him by quitting the cozy SCDP where she was good at her job and with Don every day. While she's certainly ambitious (unlike Betty) and that's respected by Don, he still believes he can control her like Betty. That's not going to happen.

I seriously was laughing out loud during Pete's exchanges on the train. When he called the older guy a "fat piece of crap" and then got decked, I about fell off the couch. God that was funny.

Not picking nits, here . . . . but he provided Peggy the opportunity, since he could see she could make the house piles of money. She fulfilled his expectations, but without her innate talent, it doesn't work. Peggy was right to leave . . . Don wound up grossly-overplaying his hand regarding the interpersonal dynamic, and she called him on his bullshit.

What a haughty, arrogant Dartmouth fuck Pete is.

Sally could probably beat him in a fight.

    Forgive if this post is:

    a) spoiler; or
    b) a d_b

And I have to admit, I am behind myself (about three seasons). But I have enjoyed watching it this season. Any idea when season six is supposed to debut?

This will catch folks up who missed some of it. If we are now at the spring of 1967 here, as suggested by the conversation on the board, any guesses as to how far into the future the producers will take the characters...? Six months? A year? Are Don and company really ready for the cusp of time leading to the 70s? I would say the early 70s(70, 71, maybe 72, but not anywhere near Watergate).

    Your thoughts......?

I had assumed the lunar landing would be a natural stopping point.

    Yep.

He also thought he had an implicit deal with Betty: I get to whore around, you get everything you want through me.

The fact that he didn't have a such a deal with Megan was part of what was keeping him faithful.

I agree, but that's not how he sees it.
