Not to mention having Charlie and Megan share an interpretive dance.

It's not like he couldn't have shot the pilot around Mad Men. I believe the series has wrapped (or close to it). They shot the final season, but AMC decided to break it into two. Fall shows don't go into production until late July at the earliest - which is why its funny hearing actors "sell" their show during the Fall press tour which takes place ahead of production. The critics (who have seen the pilot) know about as much about the show as the actors.

As for the episode, I'm still trying to make sense of it...or maybe that was the point. Loosening bonds? Can't believe Don Draper still wears a hat in 1969.

Cutler and Avery were still wearing hats as well.

They're only about six years behind the times.

I think that there was a lot of symbolism at work there.

HOMOS, I TELL YA! The machine is turning them into homos.

    - Love that Don is keeping Lou and Jim on their toes and pretty much changing the conversation and making it about him.
-I wonder how many more episodes we are going to have of people hating Betty.
-If I had to guess who was going to cut a nipple off, I would have thought Glenn.
-Surprised Sally didn't walk in on a three way. She sort of has a sonar for that stuff. The only person she hasn't walked in on is Bert Cooper.

Peggy had a hat, too. And little white gloves.

Harry's "We're going to need to some brainpower. In fact you might have to come up with the plan" is the first self-aware statement he has made in about four years.

    - I'm sad they ran out of time before they could flesh out Ginsberg's character. The scenes with him and his father were compellong and affecting. They needed to cut a few other storylines about three seasons ago instead of recircling for stories like his to be told. Some characters are self-explanatory. Jim Cutler and Lou Avery are fully realized without ever seeing them outside the office. Stan is, too. But people like Ginsberg, where something is bubbling under the surface, need more screen time.

How long before Don comes up with a slogan for a hot car or something else that says: "You know you want to."

Agreed, he went from fascinating to fungible comic relief (and then to weird).

I'd also like to know what changed that made Megan so willing to have Don fly in. Wasn't it the week before that she essentially was saying it's over?

Had that exact same thought watching the episode, shot.

That might have been the strangest episode yet. Just finished it and I'm not sure what to think. It's like when there's a guest director and they got David Lynch.
