I read this in Jim Cutler's voice.

What pissed Joan off about Jaguar wasn't money, it was that Don rendered what she did to get the account meaningless then acted like he was a white knight saving her without ever getting her opinion on it. Still, that seems like the kind of thing people who had a mutual respect for each other and had been friends for years work through.

It's hard to blame Joan for voting that way, but the way she did it was sort of smug and showed Don up in front of everyone.

I think Greenwald is insightful, but he usually spends too much time trying for a cute turn of phrase, like the run in the Topaz stockings line. This was actually understated by his standards.

I haven't always agreed with Lambert's takeaways, but they're now my favorite to read about the show. As we reach the saturation point of TV show reviews, she's the best at connecting it to a larger theme or viewpoint.

Lisanti's ratings always make me laugh.

    - I'm just glad the nerd with the telescope got action over Ol' Sixpack McMoonlandingkilljoy.

    - Spinoff: Roger and Brooks live in the same apartment. Roger has a favorite chair, calls Brooks meathead. Sammy Davis, Jr. comes to Roger's apartment just as he sings My Old Kentucky Home in blackface.

You would, indeed, be Jim Cutler. (Outside of going home to Lisa Rinna when work's over.) :)

You kidding? I'm the Pete Campbell-iest Pete Campbell that ever Pete Campbell'd. With fewer redeeming qualities.

I am watching the first few seasons on Netflix. When Harry has the idea to have the lipstick company sponsor the abortion-themed episode of the TV show, which is what gets him the raise and the title as head of the television department, he is the only one in the room to successfully argue that women are more politically engaged and will flock to the show.

Then he goes home and his wife tries to have a serious conversation and he basically tells her to shut up and look pretty.

He was doing it even then: Visionary on a larger scale, completely incompetent in his personal life.

Holy fuck, Bert Cooper has a pornographic painting of an octopus eating out a woman.

Watching this show over again is just amazing. You forget all the great little stuff.

She can be pretty good, but I don't agree with her a lot of the time. Because they don't release the episodes in advance, it's become a race among the Sepinwalls of the world to get the reviews out in a few hours. The quality of the writing takes a dip and at least Lambert has the better part of a day before her review is posted.
