Methinks you could get stupendous odds on Sterling hooking up with Sal . . . though Sal is the only other one on the show with
a trace of a sense of humor.

The aching overriding irony, of course, is that Pete came up empty after pitching to Wifey, forever . . . and, naturally, in their isolated wrestling clinch, Pete hits the jackpot with Peggy.

It can't stop the merger but it can certainly make the Brits rethink. Without a contract Don is not restricted by a non-compete agreement. That means he can work elsewhere or even start his own agency and take any clients he wants with him. That has to be a very serious concern.

  5. HC, you explained my thoughts much more clearly than I did. I imagine two possible outcomes---the Brits completely re-think the merger and bail out, or the Brits buy the company and do not name Duck as president. You could tell that the Brits do not want to lose Don, even if that means losing Duck. Either scenario is a win for Don. And again it shows that much of Don's successes is due to the fact that he has no strings, that he is not truly connected to anything in his life and he can leave/escape anything he wants whenever he wants.

Duck is dead meat. I wouldn't be surprised if we never saw him again.

After his little outburst in the boardroom, there' no way they'll make him President and jeopardize losing Don, who, quite frankly is far more valuable than Duck.

And I think both Sterling & Cooper feel the same way.

Great. You just saved 26 hours of my life. I don't have to bother watching.

With Pete and Don, I think Pete sees Don as a father figure (one he never really had) And Pete got that approval from Don regarding the California trip, and it affected him - and later led to the "anonymous" tip.

Another "irony" of the Peggy-Pete thing is she told him she got rid of the baby, another slap to the anti-adoption thinking Pete.

Betty's progression through the seasons has been emotionally - from a child now to an adult. Although it wasn't exactly a picture of a happy family at the end.

Also, I read somewhere where Weiner said he wouldn't overdo the JFK assassination - so maybe they'll pick up the show right after Nov. 1963 - because it's has been done so much elsewhere (of course, he has to re-sign first).

Actually they've already said that they have a five season arc planned with the last episode being set in 1970.
Just like this season, when they skipped ahead 18 months or so, that's the plan again.
I strongly suspect the reason why the actors haven't been signed is they want to create a question — is Pete dead or alive? Did he kill himself in the office or what?
So next season, might be set in 64 or 65.
I think it will. Just get right ahead of JFK ...

If they don't get Matt Weiner re-signed, the show's over.
Even though AMC renewed it, without Weiner, it's not the same.
Nothing else on TV touches Mad Men.

    . . . not to mention the actors . . . and Hamm's definitely "in play" . . .

Is everyone convinced that Don is the father of Betty's baby? Could it be that she was impregnated by her 'riding buddy'?

BTW, luckiest guy on the planet during the Cuban Missle crisis has to be the guy who picked up Mrs. Draper in a bar.
