Mad Men

  1. It's not being shot in HD, so when you watch AMCHD you get a skewed version ...

In a lot of ways the casting of the show is as important as the writing. You see the different generations of men and women in relation to the the time period. The war generation, the post-war generation, women at varying stages of feminism, all coming to grips with the changing social structure. It's like The Organization Man meets The Femine Mystique.
Liked the Madison Square Garden subplot.

Yeh . . . uh, huh, a bunch of commies were against the Penn
    Station "conversion" . . . most-everyone in town with a lick of
taste, from Jackie Kennedy, on down . . . very funny.

Peggy's certainly thinking outside the box.

Peggy's going to be the Cosmo Girl, before the Cosmo Girl. What a trip.

Awesome third episode of the season. If they'd
subtitled it "Talent Show", they wouldn't be far wrong. A couple of fine vocal stylings,
and a handful of other nifty presentations I refuse to spoil -- but are well worth the trouble to pursue.

The tension between Don and Roger right now is fascinating. ... And who knew little twit Pete Campbell could dance like that?

Roger + Jane = Ted Danson + Whoopi Goldberg.

    How uncomfortable was that?

Very uncomfortable. I was going to mention that, but I kept cringing through the entire thing. Looked like Don did too.

I thought last nights episode was useless. Things are moving so slowly that it seems like the writers were caught off guard that they needed to produce a new season of scripts. The show is rapidly approaching the line where it becomes so slow that it is no longer appointment television. Which is a shame because the first season was fantastic.
