Mad Men

Discussion in 'Anything goes' started by hondo, Aug 3, 2008.

  1. Uh ... yeah. That's what all the comments (below Coates' post) pointed out to him, as well. Thought anyone interested in this discussion would get a huge kick out of that discussion. If you haven't read the comments to the original Coates blog, it's worth your time if you're interested in this.

Read most of the comments. I found the last paragraph of the blog almost incomprehensible.

Personally, my favourite TV blogger is Alan Sepinwall who's the TV Critic for the (NJ) Star-Ledger. First came across him when he started blogging on the Sopranos and followed him through The Wire.

Virtually a dead ringer for the real Connie Hilton, BTW . . .

I am running an episode or two behind, but one of the best things on television is when Draper just synthesizes everything a client needs to know about their company in 100 words or less. And it's always spot on.

Draper just killing his brother in law was fantastic as well. What a freeking stud.

Peggy singing Bye Bye Birdie was a great moment as well. (Wow, Don was right again).

Was the last time Don was wrong on an ad idea the woman that owned the department store? (You mean people will go to your store just because things cost more there?)

And I'm sure he'd be so proud of his great granddaughter

Someone here (can't remember who) turned me onto Sepinwall's blog. It is a must read for me. Once I get on there, I get completely sucked in. I spent a couple of hours once (at work!) reading all the entries about "The Wire."

Here's another good Mad Men blog. They've actually interviewed Matt Weiner and several cast members. Weiner even showed up at their season finale party!

I love Sepinwall -- the best TV writer out there.

We're up to episode 11 of the first seaon. Trying to get through the first season tonight, but more likely by Wednesday. I have the DVDs of Season 2 ready to go by the weekend.

I strongly disagree. The tension of the five dollars was amazing. You never knew what the grandfather was going to do, and that little girl f'ing nailed the part. The reading of the book at the end had so much unspoken dialogue, that it just makes my head spin.

And the man Don made an old fashioned for likes to run the 2-3 zone, but the new coach thinks Hickory should go in a new direction. Am I the only one who picked up on that?

  10. I think he was also wondering why the principal would hire a coach who spent the last 10 years on a boat.

  11. Though, probably not this boat:

You know, we don't have a chance unless Jimmy Chitwood plays ball.

I'm worried he might transfer to Terhune.
