    Random thoughts...

The look on Sal's wife's face after he explained the commercial was priceless. Yes, my husband is queer.

Sally watching the burning person in Veitnam seems to be planting the seeds for a future full-blown flower child.

Draper is becoming a more likable character with each episode.

Nobody in this series is more comfortable within the day-to-day of his time and place than Draper is. It'll take something extreme to rock his world -- a less-than-perfect third child, perhaps.

That little girl is going to be a handful.

Everything goes to Betty in that will, right? That will be a fun episode when the brother catches wind of that.

If you are NBC, why isn't this show moving to your 10 p.m. slot on some given night?

  4. People don't have the patience to give it the audience it would need to carry a network these days. They want a storyline introduced and resolved in an hour (which is why "Lost," for example, was such a surprise smash hit).

I'm wondering if it would have worked better in the '80s, when serials like "Dynasty," "Dallas," etc., etc., drew huge audiences.

New writer for Episode Five and you could feel the difference. Strong episode.

Don seems determined to be a better father, although I'm sure he's gonna nail the teacher. :)

The best scenes in the show are between Don & Peggy. Don knows she's right about getting paid the same as her male counterparts but Don doesn't have the energy for that right with the paperclip counters right now.

Is there a bigger weasel in the show than Pete Campbell? It's odd, however, because he is probably the most politically aware and the most liberal of the bunch despite his silver spoon upbringing.

Yeah, JR. If Don was going to stay away from the teacher, he would have told Bets it was her on the phone when he hung up. I think he wants to keep that possibility alive, just in case ...

I love it any time they smack Pete down. I also like that Don isn't afraid to tell the Brit how to do his job.

January Jones was positively luminous (and displaying an awesome rack) in the dream sequence where she's walking down a street and finds the catepiller in her hand.
The teacher also looked very good, especially when she called Don in a drunken state, with her bra strap dangling. He'll hit that by the Fourth of July.

I watch the show with my wife and she was stunned when I said during the classroom scene that I thought Don was angling for a run at the teacher. Glad to see the board had the same reaction.

I'm not a big fan of dream sequences. Hated the ones in The Sopranos.

There are some who are saying that the entire episode with prison guard Dennis was a dream, that the two men never talked to each other.

Interesting thought. That would go with Dennis' insistence that Don say aloud that he heard him about being a better man.

Great episode. Line of the hour, as usual, goes to Sterling, after the beatdown of Campbell: "It's never as good as you think it's going to be."

God, did she not see the expression on his face when he realized she was calling (albeit alcohol-fueled) just to lay the groundwork -- so to speak?

Pete had the best line of the night when he said to Peggy: "Your decisions affect me". Some serious double meaning in that one, considering he knows his ass is grass if she blabs about their meeting with Duck, and of course, because of the whole baby thing.

Damn, this show is just wonderful
