Conrad Hilton bought the Waldorf Astoria in 1949.

So, the lawnmower scene, I figure it has to be based on something that actually happened.

And the line from Hilton about how Don doesn't have long conversations with anyone was classic.

    Brilliant episode.

Awesome episode. Jared Harris is probably the happiest man in New York when dude got his foot chopped off.

I'm sure Don Draper would have been all over Conrad Hilton's granddaughters too. How accurate is that portrayal of him for those who know?

And for those who liked as much as I did:

    Sirs, Madames,

"I'm sure something like this has occurred before in the industry"

I'm not sure it's what he says or how he says it ... just sort of thrown off. Great stuff.

I love how Don went from 0 (laughing in the waiting room) to 60 (it's tragic, or whatever when the English walked in).

Other line: "It's ruined." Re: the blood-soaked dress.

I love the show, as all know, but it was nice that SOMETHING (however
bizarre) finally happened that was significant on multiple levels (re the new
    Mr. Peg Leg) . . .

Now, I worried that folks on here were going to say that the lawnmower incident was the moment the show jumped the shark. I'm glad that wasn't the reaction. With as much day drinking that goes on within Sterling Cooper, it's perfectly within reason that something stupid like this could happen. Roger's lines were freaking perfect.

Interestingly, I don't think that the lawnmower incident was the most significant thing that happened during the episode. It might make the top 3.

The scene with Don and Conrad Hilton was great. Two kings of cool matching wits.

Two of my favorite things in the episode - the Brit's reaction to see the TV guy playing his guitar in his office and the look Sally gave her new Barbie. I don't know if that girl is a good actress or not, but that character might be the best depiction of childhood angst since Jan Brady.
