    Hi Frank;

Haven't seen you around these parts lately.

    Nice grab on the ties.

Here's a pretty good history of the British regimental ties:

What an episode - so it appears that someone else knows Don's secret. I never really saw it before but it seems like Peggy and Don are in a way mirroring each other. Each are trying to "break free" from the roles society has somewhat boxed them into.

The fact that Cooper knows of his secret is not a revelation ... there was a pivotal scene in Season 1 where Pete Campbell threatens to reveal it, and Don goes to Cooper's office with him and Cooper tells them both that he doesn't give a crap.

Obviously, however, he does remember it and is not above using it to harness in Don. Just like the kids he gave a ride to, Don thought he was in control and never saw it coming.

Yeah, in case anyone thought Bert Cooper was just an eccentric old fool sitting in his socks in the corner office he pretty much squelched that by playing the Dick Wittman card. rRght to the jugular.

    Well, f--k a Duck (sorry, couldn't resist).

Helen Gurley Brown has NOTHING on this chickie.

Neither does John Dean. Blind Ambition.

    Fantastic episode.
Cooper has always known, and a flashback episode explaining what he knows and how would be fascinating, but I suspect that will never happen. Just one of those little mysteries the show won't clear up.
The Conrad Hilton stuff was excellent as well.
Don's response of "I might have been at home reading the bible with my family" was pretty awesome.

So let's see if I have Don's schedule right:
Come to work at 9:30, slip out for lunch at 11, eat and go watch a movie. Come back to the office by 2, make the little people nervous by shutting his door, when he's actually napping. Around 4, wake up from a dream, write down some inspired bit of copy for an ad campaign and tell the art department to make it work. Then make Campbell and the rest feel stupid for not coming up with something as inspired as he did. Have a drink, go home, have another drink, not talk to his wife, and eat some cold chicken salad with Ritz crackers.

As I said in a prior post, the way that Cooper knows was already revealed in Season 1. Pete Campbell tries to blackmail Don, and Don goes right to Cooper, with Pete in tow. Cooper tells Don that he doesn't care about it.

That was not a good episode for Don Draper. Great episode for Bert Cooper, perhaps the best two lines of the show (funny - calling Hilton an eccentric; pivotal - pulling the Dick Whitman card on Draper; the line about we don't know who is really signing this anyway could fall into both).

No Joan this episode = bummer.

I hate myself for saying this, but I missed two full seasons, so I'm going to ask and take my lumps: Do we know specifically what Don's secret is? I'm still unclear. I know it involves two identities or whatever, but do we know beyond that?

Somebody just PM me and clear that up if you don't mind.
