Except for the flight attendant, although she was a Betty clone. (And a one-nighter rather than someone he spent days/weeks with. Although wasn't the actor's wife/manager somewhat of a redhead?)

    I only vaguely remember her.

As I recall, she was quite a liberated and progressive young lady.
    So yes.

That is one freakish avatar ifilus.

The big day arrived - in multiple ways - so many great lines, facial expressions.

My favorite line might have come from the Draper boy. Don: We still have a President. We'll be sad for a while and there will be a funeral on Monday.
    Draper kid: Are we going?

Back at work the Monday of the funeral ...

    Peggy: "Why are you here?"
    Don: "Bars aren't open."

I was in grade 10 when JFK was assassinated and one of the things I vividly remember was sitting in our living room with my mother watching television until late Friday evening and then again most of Saturday. I remmeber thinking "WTF?" when Ruby killed Oswald on live television

This may have been the first of what we now take for granted: 24/7 coverage of a news event.

Not one of the best episodes but you can't deal with the 60's without including JFK's death.

I'd rate it higher than that. Multiple character reads were penetrating.

    Bets is shallow as shit.

Peggy has the blinkers on, driving full steam ahead . . . though how she can go to bed with Duck remains beyond comprehension.

Can't wait for next week's Hamm/Morse scene that should be a dandy.

You'll have noted that ALL of the so-called
"coming attractions" were actually "previously on Mad Men". They showed
you NOTHING of the 11/8 episode. Fasten your seat belts -- it's going to be a bumpy ride.

And Weiner isn't sending out advance copies to critics either. It's been noted before that Weiner usually follows the Sopranos model of having the action come hot and heavy in the penultimate episode with the season finale being more low key and dealing with the aftermath. I wonder if he flipped it this time around.

He's set it up for absolute explosions, both on domestic fronts and at S/C.
You wonder how he'll stuff it all into an hour.

God, just when they had me convinced that Betty wasn't completely awful... They remind me she is.

I'm right there with you. She's such a tease. That was a great shot as she was returning from the restroom to leave the reception and she's looking at both Draper and the other guy and they are both pining for her.

Wife thought that Draper was going to kill Peggy's Aqua Net campaign right there because it was very similar to the JFK motorcade.

I haven't been a fan of episodic TV in 20 years, and in fact, I only have one other show I follow, another board favorite: Top Chef.

But this show, in the last half of last season, and obviously all of this season, has me absolutely hooked.

And when you start on the great lines, you could do 2,000 words on them. Just something as simple as "Who are you supposed to be?" during trick or treating at the end of the last episode.

Just a great, great show. I know where I'll be next Sunday night, and I haven't said that about a TV show since the Reagan Administration.
