My favorite subtle moment might have been when Pete kept asking for the moon, and he knew he had Don right where he wanted him. They made a quick cut to Roger, who gave a subtle smirk, as if to say, "nice job, kid."

And none of them - Sterling, Cooper or Draper had noncompete clauses? And they could just get away with stealing files?

    Also, from the comments there...

When Trudy was prepping the apartment for Don and Roger to come line up Pete, there was the Chip N Dip.

    Fantastic.

Both of those child actors are tremendous.

Sterling and Cooper (and to a lesser extent Don) are loaded from the sale to PPL. They had cash on hand to buy the firm back plus 12 percent. So I don't think the salaries of those they brought along are an issue.

You don't think the divorce + the daughter's wedding + a young wife who wants to take advantage of the material resources that come with marrying an older man = Sterling has less money than it seems?

They also brought over a ton of $$$ from their accounts (Sterling - Lucky Strike; Pete - jai lai, clearasil, etc.).

Would being fired make any noncompete clause (if any) null and void?

My favorite moment was when Don told Joan he needed an apartment. A furnished apartment and Joan just said sorry.
Because one word said that Don was heading to a divorce and Joan picked up on that.

I sure hope Don remembered to take along the contents of his home desk drawer.

That's also why they needed to get the accounts looted. Lucky Strike will keep the new firm's doors open, Pete's will provide "cash flow." They rogered PPL good on this one (pun intended).
