Because with so many candidates the good ballots are the norm. Full ballots are making up nearly 90 percent of those revealed

I wonder at what point will we be in a situation where all of the top candidates will be rumored or proven PED users.

Since basically everyone who played from 1988-2005 is at least "rumored" to be a PED user, I'd say we're there now.

I don't think it will happen, looking at future ballots. Raines will be sticking around for a while, along with Schilling. In 2016, you have Griffey and Pedro, I think. In 2017, you have Vlad Guerrero. In 2018, you have Thome, Chipper, and probably Johan Santana.

Griffey's another whose lack of PED suspicion always baffled me. Yeah, he was never super-bulked-up, but he also missed huge chunks of his Reds tenure with ligament and tendon injuries, which is also a symptom of steroid use (the muscles bulk up but the ligaments and tendons do not, and thus are prone to tearing).

I'm not saying Junior used, but I don't think we can say we're 100 percent certain he didn't, either.

People have floated rumors about Thome here and elsewhere, though they really have no basis in facts.

Thome used to get made fun of by his teammates for not cheating on his wife.

Well, it looks like Maddux, Glavine, Thomas and Biggio will get in. None of them fall into the PED category. That will change if Piazza makes it.

Do all PED users commit adultery?

I am not willing to say anyone is clean. Again, that's why I don't bother to attempt to draw a line.

I pick players based on how dominant their stats were relative to their era. Period.

Rob Neyer poses the question as to what is the difference between steroids and greenies and why is one a strike against players' HOF worthiness and not the other:

It's too bad there weren't more voters like you.

It's mind boggling that after so many writers that were made to look like fools are still naive enough to believe that any player is clean. Just leave it out of the story, if they haven't tested positive treat every player the same. The people who aren't voting for suspected PED cheats shouldn't be voting for anybody. Just because they were nice to you or didn't cheat on their wives does not make them clean.
