Of course, the main reason is you are desperate to punish every PED user you can, so you're willing to throw the innocent in with the guilty.

Also, shot is absolutely correct in his response to your post. Why would a former player every come out and acknowledge it if he hadn't been caught? Man, you are desperate to justify your approach.

Regarding your "explanation," you are basically saying you won't vote for them because you are afraid it would give people ground to argue with you? Seriously? That's a good reason to keep a deserving player out of the Hall of Fame?

First rule of the button. Don't talk about the button. Just in case the coward is being honest about not reading these posts, will somebody please explain that to him?

It's rhetorical, JC. The very fact that these guys won't talk openly about it even now, and certainly didn't then, means there was a stigma and that it was wrong to do. If it was something that in real time would have had gotten someone in trouble, how is it not something that should be weighed in assessing HOF merit?

Also, have to ask: We get the case made for inclusion of some candidates in the HOF that "everyone was using it and MLB knew it." AND we get the case made that "There is only suspicion but no evidence against Bagwell, Piazza, etc., that they were using. They're not like Palmeiro. You shouldn't withhold votes from them."

So which is it: Must we assume they all did it, or must we not assume certain individuals did it?

How about you don't assume anything and stick to what you actually know? I know. So silly to expect that of a journalist.

You do realize that those who question you and other voters and your crusade to punish all possible PED users, be they guilty or innocent, are not one monolithic being? Some, like me, say you shouldn't be leaving people out based on unsupported suspicions. Others say you should just let everybody in because "everyone was using it an MLB knew it."

Of course, you don't have the courage to face either of those arguments.

    Font size fail.

You could post that response to anybody who argues anything around here, shot. Nobody really wins anything tangible. It may, however, be possible to lose. Repeatedly bragging about hiding behind the button seems to qualify there. I also thought it was a violation of board policy, but I'm not sure about that part. It just makes me think of this.

What a steaming pile of "get-off-my-lawn" crap. The Onion seriously could not parody some of these guys as well as they parody themselves.

"Wins" have been "trashed"? The horror!

    Saves, too!

    And clutch!

"Wins" matter? Make the argument then. Stating it a million times doesn't make it so.

Then if Mussina's WAR is greater than Bob Gibson's, as Boswell wrote, doesn't that make Mussina a HOF lock?

Because of what goes into WAR, yes, Mussina should be a HOF lock.
