Does the town sign actually say that?! "Hometown of Travis Ford"?

Probably? Why wouldnt it? Played at UK, pretty famous around those parts.

Does that strike you as odd for some reason?

If you played at Kentucky and grew up in the Commonwealth, you not only get a sign, but probably a street or two named after you in some towns as well. Ford's also from a pretty famous basketball family in those parts...dad Eddie coached high school and AAU teams for decades.

    Good job for a newbie.

Actually the town sign says "Best Town on Earth" I believe is quoted. CSX Railroad put that sign up a long time go. The University of Kentucky and NASCAR dominate the national scene there. There is a pretty good Louisville fan base there. The writer there would be just covering local high schools It basically consists of three high schools and if you put every kids name in the story along with ever stat, the people will be happy. It would be a good job for a newbie, tough deadline though

The deadline is much easier now without desk duties.

No don't put "Johnny" had 15 turnovers or had an error on the baseball diamond, they don't allow that stuff.

What would happen to someone if he or she reported Johnny's 15 turnovers, what kind of action would be taken against the reporter if such blaspheme made its way into the paper?

I don't know, I got reamed for letting a kids name be associated with an error in baseball slip through the press and get printed. It just depends on your outlook, these our high school kids and is interesting debate(probably for another thread) not saying its right or wrong, just stating what happened when a kid's name was associated with an error.

I think the position may have been filled.
