The last two episodes have been fantastic. They are doing a fantastic job of weaving in characters from throughout the franchise.

I’ll give it another couple of days before spoiler discussion. I’m nice that way. So much stuff in the last ep.

Can we talk about the two characters who made their second appearances in the series yet? Okay, it's really one who stole the fucking show.

Ok. If you don’t want spoilers, stop it reading!

That was a lot of fun. And it appears Boba Fett will be at least a short-term main character after teaming up with Mando. That was a really fun episode.

I wonder if we’ll get the backstory on how he survived the Sarlaac in ROTJ.

One thing I was wondering. At this point, stormtroopers are just regular people, right? Not just clones of Jango Fett. Not sure how that timeline goes. But by the time of Force Awakens, the First Order is snatching kids and training them to be troopers, like Finn.

Pretty clear Gideon is the start of the First Order, right?

My wife usually doesn’t indulge my fandom of this stuff. She likes the movies and all but casually. But she’s invested in this show. For The Child, obviously. Though, she can’t get Grogu in her head and now refers to him as FroYo.

Of course, you are correct. Earlier on the thread, I mentioned that there was one way that episode surpassed the entire original trilogy. That way was Boba Fett. We saw more awesomeness from the baddest bounty hunter in the galaxy in that one episode than we saw in all of his appearances in the original trilogy combined. He was always an odd fan favorite, doing relatively little before going out like a punk in Return of the Jedi. It even seemed like he was just one of Jabba's lackeys in that movie, yet somehow he developed a following. Of course, that is a good thing because he inspired everything about Mandalorians that followed in the Legends books and the current canon, most importantly the television series we now get to enjoy.

I wonder if he has some history with Greef Karga, who seems like he has been around enough and has enough connections among bounty hunters. Maybe they can explore why his ship is called Slave 1. (I had to look it up. I'd never heard the backstory before.)

    Re: Boba Fett fandom

I can't help but think a lot of it was built up after Empire as the Mattel (?) released another round of action figures. For kids of a certain age, those drove interest in the franchise as much as the movies themselves. Of course, they released just about every damn secondary character for a few years. But Boba Fett just felt different.

It was the armor (which is why I think it’s fun that they have given it such significance in the show). He was far cooler looking than Bossk, Dengar, IG-88 or the other bounty hunters on the Executor. You wanted the action figure and, if you weren’t dressing up as Darth for Halloween, Boba was the costume you wanted to wear.

Boba Fett hit on many levels because his armor looked cool; if you were into reading the source books in the early 1980s it was hinted he was part of a greater mythology (aka his army was stated to be that of the Mandalorians who fought in the Clone Wars); he had appeared in the mythological Holiday special; the hype around the toy exclusive (he was a mail-in originally) and the legends that some kid died from swallowing the rocket that launched (not true...it was a BSG toy).

Count me in as one who thought it was a kid who choked on the Boba Fett detachable rocket. They did reissue the figure with a non-removable rocket, right? In the wake of the BSG toy? Or is that all wrong. To the google!
