I wouldn't mind that - I'm cool if we start seeing things post-Rise of Skywalker, even though that movie was really disappointing, because there are lots of directions they could go in. It's part of why the Knights of the Old Republic games were really fun - they could make allusions to the lore, without having everything tie into the three or six movies existing at the time.

Speaking of - I'm kind of surprised that there's a backlash online among some Star Wars fans about it being Luke that made the save at the end of season two. Yeah, I can understand the reluctance to indulge in more Skywalker bullshit, but 1) it made sense, how they set it up and 2) if you weren't going "holy shit" during that five minute sequence, you're probably ascribing a critical value to the series that it never had in the first place. Usually, the simpler Star Wars keeps it, the better, and it gets into trouble when they're delving into shit like Snoke and Emperor clones, and intergalactic tax treaties.

Doesn’t explicitly say this replaces The Mandalorian on the production schedule, so … both.

Definitely sounds like both, which confirms what some former Lucasfilm staffer tweeted yesterday.

As soon as the lone X-wing showed up it almost had to be Luke, right? In that timeline, there weren’t that many Jedi left.

It was great to see him rip through the Dark Troopers. Assume It was intentionally a kind f mirror scene to Vader in Rogue One.

The CGI was a little stiff but what a great moment. What a great two seasons.

Very interested to see where they go from here. I’ve read Season 3 is supposed to be on a more grand, movie-type scale.

Smart to make a big departure before Mando/Grogu looking for a Jedi got repetitive.

Wonder if it will be explained if Grogu was not still with Luke at Jedi School when Ben Solo turned. The Child would still be a child unless the species ages in rapid jumps.

Hopefully the offer Jon Favreau the opportunity to helm as many projects as he wants. Back up the dump truck full of money.

That moment honestly went right over my head! Obvious in hindsight but it still did.

That's true, if he ages in a linear fashion. He still looks significantly smaller than Yoda.

Yeah, I had the same reaction to the lone X-Wing. My wife thought it was the Republic pilot from earlier in the season, but when it was only one, I knew right away.

Agree that it was a callback to Rogue One as he decimated the Dark Troopers. It was great to see Luke at his full power, but it was smart to have him mercilessly ripping through droids and not human stormtroopers.

I think the previous use of X-Wings is what threw me off.

It had to be droids. Remember, this is right after Luke had his big internal crisis at the end of Return of the Jedi. That ended with him tossing his weapon aside. To have him then slaughtering living beings, even Stormtroopers would be a disservice to the growth of the character.

I have no doubt it was meant to parallel the Vader scene from Rogue One. Like that scene, it gave us a chance to see the character at the height of his power. They just packed so much good stuff into one episode, including the confrontation between Mando and Gideon, Luke's arrival, the set-up of a conflict over the Dark Saber, and Mando's farewell with Grogu. Yeah, the CGI with Luke was kinda crappy, but otherwise, it was pulled off beautifully.

That CGI is a huge cue that we won’t be seeing too much of Luke unless they do Marvel type work like they did with young Stark.

Last episode sort of a scratched that itch. As soon as I saw the x-wing, I actually got on the edge of my seat. Then when grogu’s ear twitched, I knew it had to be luke.
