That came out wrong, I was trying to make the point that George (when he had all his faculties) would have recognized that Long is the weak link in the organization and fired him long ago. I'm waiting to see if Hank or Hal have the balls to do what needs to be done.

You're back! And you didn't answer the question: Why does the greatest player ever need a hitting coach? Jesus didn't have a religious instructor.

    No 3,000 hits
    No 500 home runs
Level of competition was pre integration

I actually wouldn't be shocked if the Yankees changed hitting coaches in the off season -- especially if Mattingly is available.

Only Granderson is having a better than projected season.

Only Cano is hitting over .300.

but, if i'm not mistaken, isn't hitting in general in a 'down' year? the yanks are either leading or second in mlb in runs scored. i really don't see how there's any chance long takes the fall when the yaks don't reach the world series.

certainly doesn't seem to me that many fans have been complaining about the offense -- other than manky, of course.

Two for six tonight bringing the batting average up to .283. Jeter is now 2nd on the team in batting average. Batting .388 in August. My prediction that he'd hit .310 for the season suddenly appears likely. Bravo Jetes.

The Yankees are second in the major leagues in runs scored. Their best hitter is a guy who rebuilt his approach with Long's help and is now an MVP candidate.

The fact that the Yankee fanboys are complaining speaks volumes about them and their lack of a clue.
