I have Honus Wagner and Ripken ahead of him. Where do you rank the Captain?

First. Nobody's accomplished more in the postseason, and that's what really matters.

    2 run single.

2 for five, 5 RBI, average back up to .298.

So, all kidding aside, Maybe it was on the radio, maybe it was here, but someone recently gave Jeter's stats for games after an off day, a day he was out of the lineup, or when he was the DH, and they were really good.

    Maybe someone can post them.

Pretty clear that when he's fresh, he can still play, but that age is a bitch.

He got the day off yesterday, and had a very good game today.

i know his 5-for-5, 3,000 hit game was after a rainout... the key is obviously a day off AND me stating i'm still cynical that jeter IS back. i did it again the other day and then goes on this mini-tear; hist homer and RBI lined single to center were two of the hardest balls he's hit during the resurgence. sorry, dj haters, but this guy is tough to put away.

    Long live Jetes!

He is in strong position to build his MVP case over the final month.

I believe i speak for the entire class when i say it was better when we thought you were 'taking a break' for a bit.

as i've noted before, you should be so proud to have a knack for turning this long-time jeter admirer into an occasional hatah.

Just wait. Manky will be screaming when he doesn't even land in the top 10 in the MVP voting.

He's been the best hitter on the planet since he came off the DL.

Who else will be in the top 10? Bautista, Cano, Granderson, Ellsbury, Pedroia, AGon, Cabrera, Verlander. That's 8 names. Maybe Konerko if he gets the White Sox back into the playoff race.

Give him another month and Jeter will put himself right in the mix with all those names.

Last I checked, this isn't 1950 and they play baseball west of of the Mississippi River and south of the Mason Dixon Line so feel free to explain the lack of Rangers and Rays at any time.

That said, if Jetes keeps this up, he might be able to catch Yunel Escobar for best SS performance in the AL East this year!

    I forgot Michael Young.

The Rays don't have any MVP candidates. Evan Longoria is having an awful year. Looks like he's already peaked. Yet another in the long line of players Jeter has outlasted: Nomar, Tejada, Ichiro, Mauer, etc etc.
