Haha..you never cease to amuse. Jeter isn't even the best player on his own team over the past month. It's a nice rebound, but that's all it is.

The guy is 25. Just a tad early to be writing him off. Also, even in a down year, Longoria still has a MUCH higher slugging percentage this year than your hero and a higher OPS, which is a better overall barometer of a hitter than batting average.

Also, there is no question Konerko belongs above Jeter. He's having a better year and the team probably won't make the playoffs, but they made it far enough as a contender to put him in the discussion.

Josh Hamilton belongs in there, as well. Hell, as much as you like to bitch about the guy, Teixeira is having a better yaar than Jeter, too. Even with the low batting average, his on-base percentage is close and he has been a much more productive hitter when you consider home runs, RBI and slugging percentage.

Also, he is a fantastic defender, something he proves by constantly bailing your hero out with nice scoops at first base.

Longoria is batting .230. If he hits like that next season they'll be sending him down to AAA...there isn't a player in baseball history that is good enough to play hitting .230.

I don't complain about Teixiera, I just said they should have only signed him to a 3 year contract so they could have room for Pujols or Fielder.

Teixeira is having a better year than Jeter.

And your statements about Longoria just prove your ignorance.

Didn't you say that Dave Kingman should be in the Hall of Fame?

Longoria also was hurt earlier this season (his back, I think?). That might have affected him all year.

Maybe they can extend the season until January to give Jetes a shot at MVP and give you more time to admire his "special purpose." Seriously, are 12 or have you hit your teens yet?

No he isn't. His batting average has been a disappointment. Jeter had one bad month, take that out and he's hit like Classic Jetes this year.

I said he only needed the month of September to get his name in the MVP conversation.

What does my age have to do with it?

Nothing more needs to be said after that. Your baseball knowledge and credibility just hit negative numbers.

    Re: Running Derek Jeter Thread

They did that a long time ago, but let's have a little fun with numbers anyway.

    Kingman's career batting average: .236
Longoria's batting average during his "terrible" 2011 season: .235.

So, acccording to Manky, Longoria and his .235 average are on the verge of being sent to AAA, but Kingman earned a spot in the Hall of Fame iwth a .236 career mark.

    :)
