    Re: Running Derek Jeter Thread

Jeter had a bad half season, not just a bad month. He hit .256 in April with two extra-base hits that entire month, both doubles. He hit .239 in June with three extra-base hits, all doubles.

But hey, let's compare all of their numbers while we are at it.

Jeter: .298/.356/.389 with five HR, 54 RBI, 15 SB and 72 runs.
    Teixeira: .247/.343/.500 with 35 HR, 100 RBI, 3 SB and 81 runs.

Even with a much higher average, the on-base percentages are relatively close. Teixeira is slugging .500 while your hero is STILL under .400 for the season. Teixeira has 30 more home runs, nearly twice as many RBI and he has even scored 10 more runs.

Oh, and he is as good as any first baseman in the game defensively while your hero has about as much range as a fire hydrant.

Yes, Teixeira is having the better year.

Haven't read most of it, but I can only imagine some of the stuff in the past 18 pages is pure gold.

What's even better is people taking time better spent doing almost anything else to refute MankyJimy. He wins.

You rule, MankyJimy! Long live Jetes!

yes, i'm with the post above. manky has exposed himself as a young, naive, clueless tool by a) promoting kingman for the hof (nobody old enough to have seen this joker play would promote that, and b) his steinbrennian sports-talk dream of replacing TEXIERA -- a splendid player stillis folks are in his prime -- with pujols or fielder.

but we need to give the kid a break. he's feeling the pressure of the school year upon us and his folks are freaking out over the back-to-school costs. ;)

Well, at least with school starting his early bed time will prevent him from posting after 9 p.m. And he'll have algebra homework to do when he's not penning essays on The Greatness of Jetes for 9th grade creative writing.

I've already shown why Kingman belongs in the hall. He was a unique talent.

I wish we could have a civil discussion about Jeter..

No, it's your OPINION that he belongs in the Hall of Fame. And HUNDREDS of people with better credentials than you say he doesn't belong. So who should people believe? Your argument is that of a child. "It's this way because I say it is ..." By the way, how come I've seen nobody else claim "Jetes" is the AL MVP?

He sure was a unique talent.

Try posting things that aren't ridiculous and maybe your opinion would be treated with more respect.

    Again, in Manky's world.
Kingman and his career .236 batting average: Hall of Fame
Longoria and his .235 average in 2011: Terrible

I hope MankyJimy does LeBron James during basketball season. This is some kind of awesome.

I've already said as it stands now Ellsburg should be the MVP. But if Jeter hits in September the way he has since July 5 he will force his way into the discussion.

Kingman was a much better power hitter than Longoria and it was rarer to hit 40 homers in his time. The rat in the box story is urban legend.

The really funny part is when you say this stuff and you actually seem to be making an attempt at logic.

You made a blanket statement about guys hitting in the .230s needing to be sent to the minors, then argued for a career .236 hitter as a Hal of Famer. If I actually thought you believed any of the foolishness you spout on here, it might give me a headache.
