    Re: Running Derek Jeter Thread

Wait, when did Robinson Cano go to somebody outside the clubhouse for help?

More comedy. The real Jeter? The one who can't get his slugging percentage over .400?

And no, you can't dismiss the first half. It happened.

The Long stuff is where you really shine in your sad little game. The Yankees won the division. They are going to end up with home field throughout. Last I checked, they were second in the majors in runs scored. It would be idiotic to fire the hitting coach.

Let's say 25 players per each team. That would be 750 players. Ninety-nine percent of that is 742. So you want to say only eight players would take their career over Jeter's? OK.

    Re: Running Derek Jeter Thread

Jeter got help from Gary Denbo mid-season. Totally different hitter after that.

Slugging percentage is irrelevant to the discussion of a leadoff hitter. He still gets on base close to 40% of the time which is what you want.

The first half happened, but the way he's hit since then is how he will hit next year. He's still in great shape and as long (no pun intented) as he tunes out Long he will continue to hit.

    Re: Running Derek Jeter Thread

Why do I need to ask Chipper to figure out he's had a better career than Jeter? I can't just look at the stats and figure out the obvious?

    How is it obvious?

You like WAR...Jeter's ahead of Chipper in that.

Translation: don't bring up the fact that Jeter is now a glorified singles hitter!

What are you talking about??? Chipper's career WAR is 83, while Jeter's is 70.7.....

    Career numbers
    Chipper .305 AVG .403 OBP .935 OPS 141 OPS+ 453 HR 4573 Total Bases
    Jetes .313 AVG .383 OBP .832 OPS 117 OPS+ 240 HR 4426 Total Bases

    Chipper is better... period

They're pretty much the same in the postseason only Jeter has played more games making your argument still dumb
