The same Pete Rose, who I believe began his career at second base? And besides, Rose doesn't count. Remember, he played way back when stats didn't mean anything because old guys from the era couldn't hold Jetes' jock. (That's your department, right Mankster?)

You're twisting my words. What precedent is there for a player of Jeter's caliber moving off his position to accommodate a free agent?

Schmidt could play in this era. He has admitted that if steroids were readily available in the 1970s, he would have used. I'm sure Rose would have injected also.

Manky, you never disappoint. You just keep finding creative new was to post the most ridiculous crap possible.

Mike Schmidt was a fantastic defensive third baseman. Derek Jeter has always been a below-average defensive shortstop. At the time Alex Rodriguez arrived, if he wasn't the best shortstop in the game, he in the top two or three.

Rodriguez was a far superior shortstop, but Captain Intangibles made sure it was Rodriguez who moved, not himself. Just one example of his selfishness.

Why should Jeter move? He was a 4 time World Champion. ARod hadn't won a thing. Seattle had the best regular season in MLB history after he left.

ARod wanted to come to NY to ride Jeter's coattails to a pennant. Do you really think it was Jeter's responsibility to learn a new position AND do the heavy lifting in the playoffs so ARod could get a ring?

Why should he move? Because Rodriguez was far superior defensively.

Tell us again how many MVP awards Jeter has won. Now tell us how many Alex Rodriguez has won.

His entire petty mistreatment of Rodriguez alone counts as more than one. Weren't they friends before Rodriguez became a Yankee? Suddenly, Jeter isn't the best shortop on the team any more and he couldn't handle it.

When Jason Giambi was busted for steroids, Jeter stood up for him. All of the shit that has been heaped on Rodriguez? All of those opportunities to help a teammate succeed? Jeter was too petty and selfish to do it.

Arod has three but a couple of those are disputed. How many World Series MVPs does ARod have?

None of those MVPs are disputed. None of them. Dude, if you're going to keep this foolishness up, try harder.

I'm sorry that you can't handle the fact that your hero has acted like a selfish child in his dealing with having Alex Rodriguez as a teammate, but you really should learn to get over it.

You're the only one I've ever heard suggest that. If anything, it's Arod who should be grateful to the entire Yankees organization for the opportunity they gave him.

Ok, now that one made me laugh. You're the only one I've ever heard suggest just about everything you post.

It's Jeter who should be grateful to get the opportunity to play next to a guy who was arguably the best player in the game, or at the very least in the top two or three, Rodriguez's first few seasons in New York.

If they paid too much, will it affect their spending on free agents in the future?

If Bill Gates pays too much for a Benz, is he going to rethink buying that BMW?

And .350 after the break is impressive at any age. I have a hard time believing anyone can discount that.
