Yes but there's less 'mileage' on Carpenter's arm. He's thrown 200 fewer innings in his career than Sabathia.

Arguing that all the time lost to injuries is a good thing. That's a new one.

It's well known that many 'phenoms' who rack up a bunch of innings early in their career often flameout early than pitchers who get started later.

Carpenter only threw 200 innings once before he turned 30. When you factor in the time missed he probably has a fresher arm than most 28 year olds.

You really expect us to believe you are that clueless regarding the effects of age and injury on the human body?

I didn't say we should ignore his injury history. It is a concern, all pitchers are fragile.

But the act of pitching puts a lot of strain on the body. Who would you rather have, a 32 year old pitcher who has thrown 2500 innings or one that's thrown 1800 innings? You choose the one that has more pitches left in his arm.

First of all, nobody with a clue would take Carpenter over Sabathia right now. Sabathia is younger with no real injury history.

Secondly, the idea of any major league team trading somebody like Teixeira or Cabrera for Carpenter really is right up there among the dumbest things you have ever posted, which is really saying something. The only thing that makes it even more ridiculous is your scenario of the Yankees trading Teixeira for Carpenter and then flipping Carpenter to the Tigers for Cabrera. A typical fanboy fantasy that would allow them to basically get Cabrera for Teixeira.

The really funny part would be watching your hero's error total climb dramatically without Teixeira there to bail him out 15 or so times per season.

Honestly, you can't possibly mean the shit you post. Nobody is that clueless. Not even 12-year-old Yankee fans.

I like how Manky is trying to pump up Carpenter and bash the Tigers' rotation as a way to justify this asinine trade, while he currently has Ivan Nova as his #2 starter.

Considering the supply/demand of pitching and the obscene differences in contract, the Cardinals would hang up on this Carpenter/Teixeira deal anyway.

I think the Yankees would move mountains to get Cabrera. If that mountain is CC, then so be it.

Gardner, Jeter, Granderson, Cano, Cabrera, Tex, Arod, Montero and Swisher would not be a bad everyday lineup.

But Gardner, Jeter, Granderson, Cano, Pujols, Tex, Arod and Swisher would be better with CC as your #1.

Fister was arguably Detroit's best pitcher the last six weeks of the season. The numbers back that up. And as for that potent offense ... yeah, they were Murderer's Row in the series against Texas. Maybe they can trade Cabrera and Verlander to the Yankees for a bag of used game balls just to help them out.

Sabathia wouldn't be enough to get Cabrera, either. Hell, I don't see them even considering dealing Cabrera, unless maybe he is drinking again and they know it.

I doubt they are spending on Pujols, either. The Yankees need starting pitching help. If they are going to spend even more this offseason, I'm guessing C.J. Wilson is first on the shopping list.

Sabathia isn't even going to be the Yanks to trade once he opts our of his deal. This whole fantasy version of Yankee swap is absurd.
